Mr. Murray has experience in a wide range of complex business litigation matters, including securities class actions, corporate governance, and shareholder derivative lawsuits. He also handles a variety of general business litigation matters. Mr. Murray has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, served as lead and secondary trial counsel in numerous cases, and otherwise represented clients in all aspects of litigation in federal, state, and county courts. In 2004 and 2006, Mr. Murray was chosen as one of the "Best Lawyers Under 40 in Dallas" by D Magazine. He also was named by Texas Monthly magazine as a "Rising Star" in 2005 and as a "Super Lawyer" in 2006. Mr. Murray has defended securities fraud class action suits against issuers, officers, directors, and accounting firms. He has litigated shareholder derivative actions representing the special litigation committee, the dissident shareholder, the target company, and the alleged interested directors. He has litigated accounting malpractice claims against Big 4 accounting firms. He has represented corporate officers and other individuals in SEC and Self Regulatory Organization investigations and enforcement actions, and in Department of Justice investigations. In addition, he has represented clients in a variety of general commercial matters. Examples of his work as lead trial counsel include the successful trial of a commercial dispute for a large insurance carrier, a plaintiff's verdict on behalf of a major cosmetics distributor in a test case involving product diversion, and a judgment acquittal on behalf of a defendant in a criminal trademark counterfeiting case. Todd has presented CLE/CPE seminars on various aspects of corporate investigations as well as on Sarbanes-Oxley, securities fraud, and fiduciary duty liability. Todd was admitted to practice in Texas in 1995. He also has been admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Fifth Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. |
