J. Timothy Kleespies was appointed vice president of Finance and Tax for Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. in 2005. Kleespies oversees all tax matters of TDS and its business units, U.S. Cellular and TDS Telecom. He also develops and executes strategies for TDS's investment portfolio. Kleespies joined the company as vice president of Tax in 2000, and was named vice president and assistant controller in 2003.
Prior to joining TDS, Kleespies served as director of Taxation for Universal Foods Corporation for two years. Earlier, he served as director of Corporate Taxes and tax counsel for Stone Container Corporation for eight years. He also practiced law for seven years in the tax practice of Sidley Austin Brown and Wood.
Kleespies has a Master in Business Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business; a Master in Law in Taxation from New York University; a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Oregon; and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Washington. |
