Mr. Earl practices primarily in the areas of insurance coverage, construction, and business litigation. His insurance coverage practice involves representation of policyholders and insurance companies in a variety of insurance coverage disputes typically involving property damage or bodily injury claims. His construction litigation practice primarily involves the representation of developers, architects, engineers, general contractors and subcontractors in both residential and commercial contexts. He was one of the counsel of record for the prevailing general contractor in the pivotal Centex Golden Construction Company v. Dale Tile Company, 78 Cal. App. 4th 992 (2000), decision, which upheld a general contractor s right to obtain contractual indemnification from a subcontractor even under circumstances where the subcontractor acted without fault. Mr. Earl s business litigation practice involves the representation of numerous companies and individuals in a variety of business disputes. In particular, Mr. Earl has represented limited partnerships involved in disputes over financing of the development of real estate, as well as disputes involving trade secrets, trademark infringement, unfair business practices, defamation, unfair competition, contracts, business torts and fraud. In 2000, Mr. Earl served as an Acting Deputy District Attorney in the San Diego District Attorney s North County office, a special assignment in which he prosecuted criminal jury trial cases. He frequently serves as a panelist and lecturer for Lorman Education Services on various insurance coverage and construction litigation issues. |
