Tim Ryan, Founder and Vice President of Systems Engineering, has both broad and deep expertise in the architecture and design of integrated circuits, circuit boards and systems, as well as demonstrated expertise in managing successful teams of engineers. At Optichron, he is responsible for DSP algorithm development, product architecture and hardware development.
In 1998, he co-founded Avio Digital, serving as its Principal Systems Architect until the company was acquired by Centillium Communications. At Centillium, Ryan managed development of the company's customer premises equipment (CPE) products from inception to volume production. These CPE products were large system-on-chip (SoC) devices, which was a new direction for Centillium. Ryan's system-level expertise was key to integrating complex software, hardware and firmware into successful, integrated, high-performance, low-cost products.
Earlier in his career, he was a member of the research staff at Interval Research Corporation, a Paul Allen-funded think tank committed to developing new technologies and spinning out companies. At Interval, Ryan worked on digital media networking and next-generation consumer electronics, which led to the spin-off of Avio Digital as a separate company. Ryan earned bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science from Stanford University. |
