As Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Negris is responsible for all product and corporate marketing activites at SCO, as well as worldwide direct and channel sales. Negris brings more than 25 years of computer software industry experience to SCO. He has a strong background in marketing, corporate leadership, strategy and operations across a wide range of technology and business contexts, from start-ups to large corporations.
Throughout his extensive career, Negris has served as vice president of marketing for a number of large software companies, including Oracle and IBM. Negris was the vice president of marketing and sales for IBM's software business unit, where he was instrumental in helping to grow revenues to more than $9 billion. He also managed all aspects of product marketing for database, office automation, document management, and connectivity product portfolios at Oracle, with revenues exceeding $400 million per year. While at Oracle, he was credited with coining the term "thin client," that is now a ubiquitous notion in Web-based computing. Earlier in his career, Negris was the first product manager for Sybase's client/server relational database technology.
Negris has been the president and CEO and of two start-up companies and was CEO for the public software company Omnis, originally called Blythe. Additionally, Negris has directed the business and marketing strategies for a number of small-to-midsized organizations and served as a marketing consultant for executives at Hewlett-Packard, Dell, and Dun & Bradstreet.
Negris studied Liberal Arts/Communications at Columbia University, and Film and Video Production at New York University. |
