Tim Maloney specialises in the applied microeconomic and econometric analysis of labour markets and public policy. He has served as an advisor to the Strategic Advisory Unit of the New Zealand Treasury, and was a member of its Macroeconomic Forecasting Review Panel between 1994 and 1997.
Dr Maloney has published monographs on the effects of the Employment Contracts Act and social welfare reforms on the New Zealand labour market through the Institute of Policy Studies at Victoria University. He has worked on various research projects with the Treasury, the Department of Labour, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social Development, Work and Income New Zealand and the Inland Revenue Department.
He is an Associate Professor and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Economics Department at the University of Auckland. He has held several academic positions in the United States, including Visiting Professor in the Economics Department and the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin.
Dr Maloney obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin and has published widely in economic journals in the USA, Europe and Australasia. |
