Dr. Thomas Schweins joined the Company in 2004 as Vice President Corporate Strategy. With completion of the restructuring of QIAGEN’s Sales & Marketing organisation Dr. Thomas Schweins became Vice President Marketing & Strategy in 2005. Dr. Schweins joined QIAGEN from The Boston Consulting Group, Düsseldorf, where he was a core team member of the Pharma/Health Care as well as the Corporate Development Practice Area. As Manager he was responsible for several strategy projects in the Biotech, MedTech and Pharma industry. Prior to his latest position with BCG, Dr. Schweins worked three years as Technology Manager and later as Assistant to the Board with Hoechst/Aventis. At Hoechst he was involved among other things in technology scouting activities, the set up of a Corporate Venture Capital Funds, and the company’s strategy in the fields of biotechnology. Dr. Schweins has a Biochemistry degree from the University of Hanover. He obtained his PhD at the Max-Planck-Society and received a M.Sc from the University of Southern California, LA where he studied Business Administration and Chemistry. In 1994 Dr. Schweins received the Otto-Hahn-Medal from the Max-Planck-Society for his work in the field of protein science and oncology. |
