As senior vice president, human resources & administration, for Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), one of the world's largest hotel franchisors, Tom Mirgon oversees the company’s worldwide strategies for organizational and leadership development, recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, corporate communications and facilities management, as well as the evolution of the company’s corporate culture.
Mr. Mirgon joined Choice in 1997. During his tenure, the company has received many workplace excellence accolades, including honors from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the United States Department of Transportation and Training Magazine. Most recently, the company has twice been named to Washingtonian magazine's "Great Places to Work" list and has received the Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval from Maryland's Alliance for Workplace Excellence for four years in a row.
Prior to joining Choice, Mr. Mirgon was vice president, administration for Spherion (formerly Interim Services), an international provider of staffing and managed services. While at Spherion, he developed standardized operating practices and quality initiatives.
In addition, he has held positions of increasing responsibility at Taco Bell, a division of PepsiCo Inc., culminating in his post as senior director, field human resources. Mr. Mirgon was responsible for the strategic direction of Taco Bell's human resources function, which encompassed more than 70,000 employees. In addition, he is credited with reorganizing the company's operations and human resources functions to create a more productive, customer-focused, team-based organization.
Mr. Mirgon holds a bachelor's degree in industrial organization psychology and a master's degree in labor and human resources from The Ohio State University. |
