Thomas George is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Silicon Valley office. Thomas is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department and concentrates his practice on patent litigation, counseling and prosecution.
Before joining the Firm, Thomas worked as a patent attorney at major law firms and also at Siemens Corporation where he wrote and prosecuted patent applications, wrote opinions regarding validity and infringement, performed IP due diligence, counseled clients and analyzed agreements. Thomas has experience in the fields of computer hardware and software, networks, semiconductor electronic devices and mechanical devices. Examples of patent applications in these areas that he wrote and that issued are: US6,963,081; US6,946,319; US6,630,842; and US6,516,405.
Prior to law school, Thomas worked as a software engineer at Motorola writing programs for a long-haul vehicle communication system. He also worked as a software engineer at Tellabs writing programs for a digital cross-connect system.
Thomas received a B.S. in computer engineering from Iowa State University and a M.S.E. in electrical engineering from Purdue University. At Northwestern University School of Law, he served as articles editor for the Journal of International Law and Business.
Thomas is admitted to the California state bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
