Thomas de Win has been Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bayer AG since March 2006.
De Win, who was born in Leverkusen in 1958, joined Bayer AG in 1974. From 1975 to 1978 he trained as an office management assistant. On completion of his vocational training he worked in the administration of Bayer AG. Between 1976 and 1984 he held various positions in the Central Representative Body for Young Workers and Trainees.
After completing his civilian service (1980 to 1981), de Win became a member of the Bayer AG Works Council in 1984. Since 1989 he has been released for service as a Works Council member. In 1998 he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Works Council. Since that time he has been a member of both the Central and Group Works Councils. One year later he became deputy chairman of the Bayer Central Works Council. In 2001 he was elected to the National Board of the German Mine, Chemical and Power Workers’ Union.
De Win has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Bayer AG and Chairman of the Leverkusen Works Council since April 2002. In December 2005 he was elected Chairman of the Central Works Council.
