Thomas McGuirl is vice president, Tax, of Dow Jones & Company. He previously served as treasurer of Dow Jones from December 1998 until February 2004. He joined Dow Jones in April 1985 as director of taxes and assistant treasurer, responsible for the taxes of Dow Jones and its subsidiaries world-wide.
Before joining Dow Jones, Mr. McGuirl was tax manager for General Instruments Corp. in Clifton, N.J., where he had worked since September 1983. He was a tax supervisor for KPMG Peat Marwick from January 1979 to 1983, and was a senior accountant for H. Frankel & Co., certified public accountants, from September 1977 through 1978.
Mr. McGuirl is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Bar Association and the Tax Executive Institute.
A native of New Jersey, Mr. McGuirl earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a doctor of laws degree from Seton Hall University Law School in Newark, N.J.
