Thomas W. Jones is former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Global Investment Management at Citigroup, and former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup Asset Management with approximately $500 billion assets under management. Thomas was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup Global Investment Management in August 1999 and continued in that capacity until October 2004. This business sector included Citigroup Asset Management, Citigroup Alternative Investments, Citigroup Private Bank, and Traveler's Life & Annuity.
Thomas joined Travelers Group as Vice Chairman and Director in 1997, and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Salomon Smith Barney Asset Management. Prior to joining Travelers Group, Thomas was Vice Chairman and Director of TIAA-CREF since 1995, and President and Chief Operating Officer from 1993-1997. From 1989-1993, he served as Executive Vice President of Finance and Planning and Chief Financial Officer of TIAA-CREF. From 1982-1989, Thomas was Senior Vice President and Treasurer and other positions with John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, and spent the previous 11 years in public accounting and management consulting, primarily with Arthur Young & Company.
Thomas is a Director of Altria Group and Trustee of the Economic Club of New York. Past board positions include Cornell University, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Freddie Mac, Fox Entertainment Group, Travelers Group, Pepsi Bottling Group, TIAA-CREF, Eastern Enterprises, Thomas & Betts Corporation and Investment Company Institute.
A graduate of Cornell University, Thomas also holds an MS degree from Cornell and an MBA administration degree from Boston University, and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has been awarded honorary doctoral degrees by Howard University, Pepperdine University and the College of New Rochelle. |
