Thomas R. Adams is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Reynolds American Inc. He joined the company in 1999 as senior vice president and controller of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Holdings, Inc. (RJR). He was named senior vice president and chief accounting officer for Reynolds American and R.J. Reynolds in 2004, and became senior vice president business processes for R.J. Reynolds the following year. Adams was named senior vice president business process of Reynolds American in 2006, and senior vice president and chief accounting officer for RAI in 2007. He assumed his current position on Jan. 1, 2008.
From 1985 until 1999, Adams was a partner at the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Adams is a member of the board of directors of Technology Concepts & Designs, Inc., an affiliate of RJR; the Old Hickory Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and the board of commissioners of the Housing Authority of the City of Winston-Salem, N.C.
A native of Pine Grove, Penn., Adams earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Duke University
