Description of Practice:
Tom Tunny is senior counsel in the firm's Walnut Creek office, where his practice focuses on litigation and transactions in all aspects of land use and planning law, including the California Environmental Quality Act, the Subdivision Map Act, the Williamson Act, the Planning and Zoning Law, the California Coastal Act, Development Agreements and local land use, planning and zoning codes throughout the State of California. Mr. Tunny has assisted in obtaining development approvals for numerous commercial and residential projects. Mr. Tunny has litigated, at the trial and appellate level, cases arising under the California Environmental Quality Act, the Subdivision Map Act, the Williamson Act, local planning codes, and state real property law.
Prior to joining Allen Matkins, Mr. Tunny was associated with the law firm of Sanger & Olson, a land use and real estate boutique in San Francisco.
During law school, Mr. Tunny externed for the Hon. Martin J. Jenkins of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Tunny was a Congressional Aide to U.S. Representative Anna G. Eshoo (CA 14th District), advising her on environmental, land use, housing and other issues.
Educational History:
Mr. Tunny received a B.A. from Bowdoin College in 1990, a Masters in City and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley in 2000, and a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 2000, where he was Articles Editor for the West Northwest Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. |
