Thomas joined Drinker Biddle in 2005, and focuses his practice on all areas of patent prosecution and due diligence in the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological fields, particularly protein biochemistry and molecular biology. Prior to joining Drinker Biddle he was a patent agent at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
Thomas earned his bachelor's degree in biochemistry from East Stroudsburg University in 1992 and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Temple University School of Medicine in 1997. At Temple, he studied enzymology and molecular biology, and investigated the biochemical and biophysical aspects of the role of metal ions on the structure and the function of the enzyme Arginase.
Thomas’ industry experience includes several years as an investigator at SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline), where he identified and developed new microbial targets for anti-infectives therapy. As part of the Microbial Biochemistry research group at SmithKline Beecham, he developed and applied biophysical and genetic techniques to the study of antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Thomas has also published numerous articles and has lectured as a speaker at Temple University and East Stroudsburg University.
