Tom Reed is vice president and general manager of Plum Creek's Southern Resources unit. He was promoted to this position in July 2006. In his this position, Reed oversees sustainable forestry management of all of the company's approximately 4.33 million acres in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas. Among other things, Reed and his team focus on marketing and logistics and identifying and executing "best practices" throughout Plum Creek's southern timberlands.
Reed began his career in 1973 with Champion International, where he was serving as vice president of forest resources when International Paper acquired the company in 2000. He then worked for International Paper as region manager, southeast operations until joining Plum Creek in 2001. Prior to taking on his current role, Reed served as vice president and general manager for Plum Creek's Atlantic South region.
Reed earned a Bachelor of Science in forest management from Iowa State University.
He serves on the Florida Forestry Association Board and the North Carolina Forestry Foundation Board. He also serves on the University of Georgia's External Forestry Advisory Committee and on the Center for Forest Business Advisory Board. |
