Tom Duff is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Wellman, Inc.
Tom began his career in 1971 at Sacks Industries, Inc., a privately-held manufacturer of polyester fiberfill and nonwoven products, where he ultimately became Chief Operating Officer.
In 1983, Sacks acquired 50% of Wellman, Inc., a privately-held manufacturer of recycled polyester and nylon fiber and resins, wool top and anhydrous lanolin. From 1983 to October 1984, Tom was Vice President and General Manager of Wellman's Johnsonville, SC production facility. In November 1984, he became Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Present day Wellman was formed in August, 1985 through a management-led buyout. Tom became President, Chief Executive Officer and a director. In December of 1999, he was appointed Chairman of the Board. The company, which went public in June 1987, doubled in size with the acquisition in November 1989 of a polyester fiber and PET resin company.
Tom is a 1970 graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in Psychology. He resides with his wife, Susan, and family in Rumson, NJ. |
