Tom Crosby has been a partner at Faegre & Benson since 1972. Tom has a broad-based transactional practice including general corporate counsel with an emphasis on real estate. Tom served as head of the real estate group from 1971 through 1988 and as chairman of the firm’s management committee. Early in his career he practiced in the corporate field, including private placements, public securities offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. Beginning in the 1970s he concentrated on commercial real estate and, in particular, on the development, financing and leasing of shopping centers. The work focused on the development of regional shopping centers in the upper Midwest. In the early 1980s he was the attorney in charge of the disposition by Dayton Hudson Corporation of its ownership position in approximately 20 regional shopping centers to institutional buyers. Tom has also been active in downtown commercial real estate including the acquisition, financing and disposition of major Twin Cities properties such as the IDS Center, Baker Center and Minneapolis City Center. He served on the Board of Directors of Oxford Development Group Limited, a Canadian-based real estate developer with major downtown projects in several Canadian cities and in the Twin Cities, Denver, Chicago and Los Angeles. Presently, in addition to his work in the real estate field, he works with several closely held corporations in the Twin Cities. He represents several of the leading nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities including The Blake School, The Minnesota Orchestral Association and the Walker Art Center. He is also involved in estate, trust and family planning matters. Tom is active in community activities and is serving or has served on the governing board of the Greater Twin Cities United Way, The Walker Art Center, the Minnesota Orchestral Association, and The Blake School. He has been a member of the Medina City Council and is presently mayor. |
