Mr. New advises Krieg DeVault's clients in the areas of governmental affairs, public procurement, regulatory issues, public finance, economic development and public policy analysis.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. New held several key positions in Indiana state government and politics. Most recently, Mr. New served as Chief of Staff to Governor Frank O'Bannon from 1997 to 1999 and managed both of O'Bannon's gubernatorial campaigns in 1996 and 2000. In addition, Mr. New served as Fiscal Advisor to the Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus, 1984-1988; Executive Assistant for Policy Development to Lieutenant Governor O'Bannon, 1989-1991; Legislative Liaison to the Indiana Senate for Governor Evan Bayh, 1991-1992; and Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor O'Bannon, 1992-1995.
Other government appointments held by Mr. New include: Secretary-Manager of the Indiana Development Finance Authority; Chairman of the Enterprise Development Fund; and a member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Institute for New Business Ventures. Mr. New was also the Indiana Democratic Party's nominee for Treasurer of State in 1990.
Mr. New currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Indy Partnership, central Indiana 's premier economic development organization. He is also a member of the White River State Park Development Commission, the Marion County Economic Development Advisory Board and the Board of Directors of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. His other memberships include the Indianapolis Jewish Community Center, the Harvard Club of Indiana and Media Co-Chair of the 2004 Big Ten Basketball Tournament Local Organizing Committee.
A native of Greenfield, Indiana , Mr. New is an honors graduate of Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and holds masters degrees from The University of Chicago and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University .
