Thomas J. Townsend is Executive Vice President for Sun National Bank. He oversees the company’s Bank Operations, Information Technology (IT) and Risk Management Departments.
Mr. Townsend oversees the management of Sun’s banking operations infrastructure, including the deposit and loan operations groups. As leader of the Information Technology (IT) Department, he works closely with the IT team to ensure that all functions and systems connectivity are properly aligned with the bank’s business objectives. In his role as Director of Risk Management, Mr. Townsend supervises the Loss Prevention and Security and Compliance Departments, and directs the bank’s efforts in identifying and managing operational risks.
Mr. Townsend also has administrative responsibility for the Internal Audit and Loan Review functions, each of which reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
He brings more than 28 years of senior-level leadership and solutions-oriented management experience to Sun. Prior to joining the bank in 2001, he served as Chief Financial Officer for Smith Barney Corporate Trust Company in Wilmington, DE. During his previous 20-year affiliation with CoreStates Financial Corporation, Mr. Townsend worked in various areas, including Corporate Strategic Planning, Asset Management, Finance, Investment Banking, and Internal Audit.
Mr. Townsend earned an Executive MBA from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA, and a bachelor of science in Accounting from West Chester State University in West Chester, PA. He also is a Certified Risk Professional and serves on the board of the Food Bank of South Jersey. |
