Thomas J. Murray, a litigator in Dykema's Bloomfield Hills Office, handles complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes, tax matters and automotive warranty recovery issues. His clients - which include a major holding company, a global automobile manufacturer and a major financial services and insurance group - depend on his aggressive representation in legal disputes, his understanding of their business and his ability to communicate effective legal advice and strategy.
Mr. Murray's representation of a major holding company resulted in the client receiving millions of dollars in tax refunds from the state of Michigan and the federal government. In 2009, Mr. Murray was part of a trial team that obtained a $47.7 million verdict on behalf of Chrysler LLC against a Tier 1 supplier. The verdict is believed to be the largest in the history of the Oakland County Circuit Court. Other significant cases include his participation on the trial team that won a $20 million settlement in 2006 after a seven-week trial for the Dykema-represented plaintiff - an automotive marketing company and certain of its shareholders. This was the largest reported settlement in Michigan in 2006.
Mr. Murray was also on the trial team representing a client in a condemnation action against the federal government that resulted in a $16.1 million judgment. Other trial successes include winning a seven-figure tax refund judgment for a plaintiff in a dispute with the Michigan Department of Treasury. |
