As General Manager for Service Enterprise Unit Dow Corning’s service solutions business, Tom Cook has shared service responsibilities for customer service, information technology, business process management, procurement, logistics, human resources, analytical sciences, and non-manufacturing site management.
In his role as Asia Area Vice President, he is responsible for Dow Corning’s corporate governance, compliance and leadership development in Asia.
Cook has been instrumental in several company-wide initiatives, including the development of the new corporate strategy that transformed the company from a product-focused supplier into a solution provider. He also led the initiative which created the strategy for the highly successful Xiameter® brand offering a web-based business model designed to service customers in mature silicone segments that require access to high quality products, but do not desire extra service.
He joined Dow Corning in 1985 and held various positions in Information Technology before moving to a sales position in the Automotive & Electronics Industries in 1991. He later became Global Distribution Manager before being named Director of Customer Services in 2001. In 2002, Cook was appointed Global Industry Executive Director of the Electronics Industry. He assumed his current Vice President and General Manager responsibilities in 2006.
Tom is a board member of Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation (HSC), a joint venture between Dow Corning, Shin-Etsu Handotai Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Materials Corporation.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Bowling Green State University and a master’s in business administration from Central Michigan University. He has attended advanced marketing courses at Eastern Michigan University and Ohio State University. |
