Thomas H. Donohoe is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Chicago office. He is a member of the Tax Department, where his practice focuses on state and local law.
Tom has broad experience in assisting businesses in tax planning and in resolving controversies with state and local tax authorities. He works with companies involved in telecommunications, automotive manufacturing, leasing, transportation, pharmaceuticals, electronics, computer hardware and software, printing, food retailing, banking, heavy manufacturing, health care, agriculture, advertising and environmental services.
He has worked closely with business organizations and now serves as chair of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce’s Tax Committee. He is a former chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s State and Local Tax Committee and a member of the American, Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations.
Tom has written extensively, with articles appearing in State Tax Notes, The State and Local Tax Lawyer, State Tax Review, and The Illinois Manufacturer. He is a frequent speaker before taxpayer and taxing authority groups.
While attending the University of Wisconsin, Tom was a member of the Wisconsin Law Review.
