Thomas E. Trask was elected chief executive officer of the Assemblies of God at the 45th General Council, and began serving his office November 19, 1993. As general superintendent of the Assemblies of God, the largest Pentecostal denomination in the world, he is a member of the denomination’s Board of Administration and Executive Presbytery. Prior to his election, he served the church as its general treasurer. The church has over 12,200 congregations in the United States with some 2.7 million members and adherents.
Trask has served in a variety of capacities since 1956 when he began his ministry in the Minnesota District. A graduate of North Central University (college) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Trask has spent over 50 years in ministry, 25 of which were devoted to the pastorate. He was ordained in 1958. His ministry has included a strong emphasis on U.S. and world missions. He and his congregations helped mother 7 new churches.
In addition, he served as assistant superintendent of the Michigan District and was superintendent of the district for three years. He also was district youth and Sunday school director for four years.
Trask serves presently on the boards of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Central Bible College and Evangel University. He also serves on several boards and committees for the denomination, including the General Presbytery. He is chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, the Assemblies of God Financial Services Group and Global University. He is a member of the board of administration of the National Association of Evangelicals, and the board of directors of the National Religious Broadcasters.
Trask has co-authored a number of books including Back to the Altar; Back to the Word; The Battle, a book on spiritual warfare; The Blessing, a book on the power of the Holy Spirit today; The Choice, a book embracing God’s vision in the new millennium; and The Fruit of the Spirit. He also is one of the editors for The Pentecostal Pastor. |
