Thomas E. Freston served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Viacom Inc. from January 1, 2006 until his resignation in September 2006. At Viacom, he oversaw Viacom’s cable network properties (which include MTV, Nickelodeon, BET, Comedy Central and many other networks), Paramount Pictures and Famous Music (publishing). He also served on the Board of Viacom from September 2005 until September 2006. Previously, he was Co-President and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Viacom’s predecessor entity since June 2004. Prior to that, Mr. Freston served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MTV Networks since 1987. Mr. Freston joined MTV Networks in 1980 and was one of the founding members of the team that launched MTV: Music Television. Among other things, he created MTV’s classic I want my MTV ad campaign. Mr. Freston is also on the board of the American Museum of Natural History. |
