Tom Bettcher has responsibility for Emerson’s climate technologies business which posted sales of $3.6 billion in fiscal 2007. He joined Emerson in 1977 as corporate manager of new product development, and subsequently held marketing positions with several Emerson divisions including White-Rodgers, Emerson Motors, and Copeland. In 1987, he was promoted to president of the Emerson Specialty Motor division. Bettcher was named president of Copeland Air Conditioning in 1994, and president and chief executive officer of Copeland in 1997. He became senior vice president of Emerson in 2000 and was promoted to executive vice president later that same year.
Bettcher is a member of the board of directors of the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute (ARI) and is a past chairman of that national organization. He is also a member of the Victoria Theatre Board of Directors in Dayton, Ohio, and has served on the executive committee of the Dayton Development Coalition Board.
Bettcher received a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in 1969 and an MBA from the University of Virginia in 1975. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1973. |
