Thomas Freyman is executive vice president, Finance and chief financial officer. He joined Abbott on Feb. 1, 1979, and has served in a number of financial planning and analysis positions. In 1984, Freyman was appointed finance director for Abbott's European distribution center in the Netherlands. He was appointed Division Controller, Corporate Materials Management in 1987 and Treasurer, International Division in 1988. He was elected Vice President and Treasurer in 1991. Freyman was elected vice president and controller, Hospital Products Division in June 1999 and was later elected as Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer in 2001. He assumed his current role in Feb. of 2004.
Prior to joining Abbott, Freyman was a certified public accountant with Ernst & Whinney, Chicago.
Freyman serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Kellogg Alumni Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the Executives' Club of Chicago.
He earned a bachelor's degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in management from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
