Tom Halverstadt currently serves as Senior Vice President of the Carl M. Freeman Companies and General Manager of its Community Development & Homebuilding and Sports & Hospitality business segments for the Company. In this capacity, he is responsible for all operations of all community development projects as well as the facilities and operations of all hospitality, resort, golf, and restaurant properties. Tom is always focused on the delivery of unmatched satisfaction to our customers and community residents. While with the Freeman Companies, Tom has led the successful launch and grand opening of two award-winning master planned communities: The Village at Bear Trap Dunes and Bayside Resort. The Village at Bear Trap Dunes, named the Development of the Year in 2002 by Golf Inc. magazine, is a 700-home, 450-acre community located just three miles from Bethany Beach in Delaware, and is an amenity-rich property that includes a 27-hole championship golf course, a full service clubhouse, The Den restaurant and banquet facility, a fitness center, five tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, and Bear Essentials Market. Tom also led the development and 2004 opening of Bayside Resort, a 1640-home, 867-acre waterfront resort golf community on the Assawoman Bay in the Delmarva Penninsula. Bayside, which received a Coastal Living Award for community development in 2006, features an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course and planned recreational amenities include a fitness center with spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis facilities, miles of trails, an Environmental Center, a private community pier, and a town center offering a variety of dining options, shopping, and commercial office space. Tom previously served the Freeman Companies as Chief Operating Officer of Freeman Golf Solutions, a technology-based solutions system serving the golf industry. Prior to that, Tom served as Chief Financial Officer for Steele Software, Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland and as Vice President, and subsequently President, of CTH Masonry, Inc., in Beltsville, Maryland. He began the first ten years of his career as a CPA and applies this financial knowledge, along with his insights in homebuilding, to his leadership qualities. After serving three years in the United States Marine Corps, Tom earned a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from the University of Maryland, College Park, graduating magna cum laude.
