B. Thomas Hansson is senior vice president, strategic planning and corporate development at Sara Lee Corporation, and was elected an officer of the corporation in 2007. In this position, he is responsible for the company’s strategy, long-range planning, competitive intelligence and corporate development functions.
In January 2007, Hansson joined Sara Lee in his current position. Prior to Sara Lee, Hansson was at Booz Allen Hamilton for 19 years and was a U.S.-based lead partner in the Strategic Leadership Practice. Hansson started his career with Boston Consulting Group in 1983, based in the United Kingdom and Germany. In his consulting work, Hansson has concentrated on both strategy development and operational restructuring for companies in industries undergoing fundamental change. He has worked in markets around the world, serving industry-leading clients in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
Hansson earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering and economics from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. In addition, he received a master’s degree in business administration from INSEAD in France.
