Mr. Rawlinson has been working in real estate finance and accounting since 1994. As Director of MB Real Estate’s Investment Services division, Mr. Rawlinson and his team of professionals evaluate the profitability of real estate investments throughout the country.He also directs the firm's investment activities, including identifying investment opportunities and financial partners for direct investments, and conducts private placements of debt and equity on behalf of clients. Through MB Real Estate Advisors, he leads strategic real estate consulting engagements, and is currently spearheading the development of the firm’s investment fund. In addition, Mr. Rawlinson oversees the profitability of the institutionally-owned properties in MB Real Estate's management portfolio, maximizing each owner’s returns. Prior to joining MB Real Estate, Mr. Rawlinson was a Manager and Senior Consultant at Realogic Analytics Inc., where he advised investment banking clients including Credit Suisse and Barclays Capital. On behalf of his clients, Mr. Rawlinson managed the entire real estate financing process from analysis, structuring and negotiation, to underwriting, site inspections, appraisal review, environmental and engineering review, accounting review, investment committee presentations, legal documentation, closing, and securitization.Prior to that, Mr. Rawlinson spent 10 years at Bank of Montreal, where he was responsible for originating, underwriting, and executing commercial real estate debt and equity transactions, and managing the bank’s construction lending portfolio. There, he performed in-depth analysis for hotel, multi-family, office, industrial, and retail properties, focusing on project economics, location, market feasibility, sponsorship, and risk/return pricing. He also worked closely with Risk Management Officers to develop Basel Accord-based risk rating guidelines that evaluate the qualitative and quantitative measures of various real estate and subscription loan investments, and recommended exit strategies for underperforming/sub-hurdle investments.Mr. Rawlinson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from DePaul University, where he graduated with highest honors. |
