Thomas A. Berret is a partner in Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP. Mr. Berret practices primarily in the area of personal injury litigation representing individuals injured as a result of motor vehicle collisions, construction site accidents, defective products, defects in property, or other negligent conduct or malpractice. He also practices in the areas of estate litigation, construction claims, and contract litigation.Mr. Berret received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from St. Vincent College in 1968. He also received an M.A. degree in Political Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972. Mr. Berret received his Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law in 1977, where he served as Executive Comment Editor for the Duquesne Law Review. While at Duquesne, Mr. Berret received the Am Jur Award for the highest grade in Contracts. Following graduation from college, Mr. Berret enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1969 to 1972, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam with the Military Intelligence Branch. Mr. Berret is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association. Mr. Berret was appointed Editor-In-Chief of The Pittsburgh Legal Journal and The Lawyer’s Journal, publications of the Allegheny County Bar Association, in 2001 and continues to serve in that position. He has also served as a Special Master for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Berret was elected as a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County in 1992. Mr. Berret has tried a variety of jury and non-jury cases in State and Federal Courts principally in Western Pennsylvania, involving motor vehicle collisions, product liability claims, medical malpractice and premises liability cases. He has also written and lectured on jury verdict trends in Allegheny County, as well as on other legal topics. |
