Thomas A. Arena is a partner in the Litigation Department of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. He joined the firm in July 1998.
Mr. Arena began his career as a law clerk to the Honorable Jon O. Newman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and later worked as an associate at Morvillo, Abramowitz, Grand, Iason & Silberberg, P.C.
In 1994, Mr. Arena became an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. During his tenure at the U.S. Attorney's Office, he participated in a wide variety of criminal investigations and successful prosecutions of numerous criminal violations, including racketeering, antitrust, tax fraud, computer fraud, bank fraud and money laundering. Mr. Arena handled numerous jury trials and arguments to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. In both 1996 and 1998, he received the Director's Award for Superior Performance from the Executive Office of United States Attorneys in Washington, D.C.
Since joining Milbank, Mr. Arena has focused his practice on the representation of institutions and individuals in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts. Mr. Arena has represented public companies in merger and acquisition litigation, financial institutions in civil RICO lawsuits, and officers, directors and public companies in class actions brought under the federal securities laws. In addition, Mr. Arena regularly has represented institutions and individuals in grand jury, SEC and internal corporate investigations.
Mr. Arena received his A.B. degree summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University. He received his J.D. degree from Yale Law School, where he was an Articles Editor of the Yale Law Journal. |
