Thomas A. Amato is executive vice president, corporate development and chief integration officer of Asahi Tec Corporation. In this role he leads global mergers and acquisitions activities for Asahi Tec and all of its subsidiaries and is responsible for driving the integration and synergies of Asahi Tec and its subsidiary Metaldyne.
Previously, Mr. Amato served as executive vice president, commercial operations of Asahi Tec’s subsidiary Metaldyne Corporation and as vice president of corporate development. In those roles he was responsible for the company’s business development initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, divestitures and other business development activities. In this position, Mr. Amato played a key role in the recent acquisition of Metaldyne by Asahi Tec and in Metaldyne’s acquisition of the Chrysler Group’s New Castle, Ind., facility.
Before that, Mr. Amato served as vice president of corporate development for Metaldyne’s Diversified Industrial Group, where he was responsible for the group’s business development activities and property transactions. Prior to that, he worked on numerous domestic and international acquisition, divestiture and financial projects for the former MascoTech. Mr. Amato started his career with Imperial Chemical Industries, a multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company, where he was a group leader responsible for introducing new polyurethanes-based products into OEM automotive and non-automotive market segments.
Mr. Amato holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
