Thad Paul is a Principal focused on U.S. real estate opportunities. He is responsible for sourcing new investments, with a focus on the key markets in Florida and on the hotel sector nationwide, and leading investment teams through the acquisition process. Since joining Carlyle in 2000, he has been involved in over 40 acquisitions with the all-in capitalization of the projects exceeding $1.9 billion. He is based in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Paul’s experience at Carlyle includes the acquisition or development of assets in most all property types – including hotel, senior housing, for-rent multi-family, for-sale multi-family, office, retail, and industrial. Mr. Paul has played a key role in the execution of notable transactions such as the acquisition and rehabilitation of two hotels on Eighth Avenue in Manhattan, the acquisition of a distressed senior housing facility in Long Island, the development of two residential condominium buildings in Washington, D.C., and the purchase and rehabilitation of an industrial property in Tampa Bay, Florida.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Paul worked as a Senior Analyst at LaSalle Hotel Properties (NYSE: LHO), where he focused on hotel acquisitions and asset management for the publicly-traded REIT.
