Terry Geer completed his fourth season as a fulltime assistant on the Avalanche equipment staff. This marks Geer's seventh season overall with the club, as he staffed the NHL visiting team dressing room at Pepsi Center from 1999 to 2002.
In his current position, Geer is responsible for assisting Mark Miller with all the day-to-day equipment operations, including equipment repair and skate sharpening.
Geer, 30, grew up playing hockey for the Arvada (Colo.) Hockey Association for 13 years as a goaltender. In 1991 at the age of 15, he began working at the North Jeffco Ice Arena. Following nearly four years of working construction, he returned to North Jeffco in 1997, learning the craft of ice maintenance. In the fall of 1997, he was appointed Head of Ice Maintenance at the South Suburban Family Sports Center, practice facility of the Avalanche. He maintained that post until 1999 when he was invited to staff the visiting room at Pepsi Center.
Geer is single and resides in Lakewood. |
