Ms. Via is a partner who works primarily in the areas of commercial real estate, land use and development with particular emphasis on large public/private projects. She represents real estate companies and other entities with questions about how they may use or develop their property, and helps them manage the complexities of governmental approval processes. Ms. Via represents developers and other businesses and nonprofit entities in the acquisition, planning, construction and disposition of property, especially on large public/private projects. She played a significant role in obtaining the entitlements for Catellus Development Corporation's 300-acre Mission Bay project in San Francisco. She was also lead counsel for Wilson/Equity Office in its successful efforts to gain approval under San Francisco's Proposition M office development limitation program for its 1.15-million-square-foot project at First and Howard Streets. Ms. Via was instrumental in the coordination of approvals and preparation of the environmental impact documentation for the San Francisco Giant's ballpark. She acted as lead counsel for the California Academy of Sciences rebuilding project in Golden Gate Park and currently represents California Pacific Medical Center on its hospital rebuilding project. Ms. Via is a seasoned advisor on compliance with the environmental review process under the California Environmental Quality Act, on local planning and zoning regulations and in dealing with regional and statewide regulatory agencies, including the Bay Area Conservation and Development Commission. Professional Activities - Ms. Via serves on the Advisory Council of the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association. She is also a member of Lambda Alpha International, the Urban Land Institute and Commercial Real Estate Women, and has served as a guest lecturer at Harvard University. |
