Description of Practice:
Tara A. Kamin is an associate based in our Los Angeles office and practices in the real estate area with a focus on land use and environmental compliance matters. Tara's land use practice involves managing the entitlement process, including negotiating with government officials and agencies. Her work encompasses redevelopment law, municipal law and environmental law. Tara has prepared entitlement applications for various development projects and counseled clients on a full range of land use and entitlement issues pertaining to residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
Prior to working with Allen Matkins, Tara was a litigator with the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office. In her five year tenure as a Deputy City Attorney, she assumed multiple roles in the criminal and civil divisions, including as a trial deputy in the central trials division (jury and bench trials, motions, and hearings). Tara also operated the busiest arraignment court in the county with over 2,000 cases monthly and defended the LAPD in employment discrimination matters.
Tara is a member of the State Bar of California, serves on the Board of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Women's network (CREW) and is also a licensed real estate broker with the California Department of Real Estate.
Educational History:
Tara received her J.D. degree from the University of San Diego School of Law where she was a semi-finalist in the Constitutional Moot Court Competition and was a Co-President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. She received her B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany where she majored in Political Science and Theater. |
