From 1978 to 1991 Takis Arapoglou was based in London working for US investment banks. He specialized in capital markets and strategic advice for multinational corporations financial organizations and governments in North America Scandinavia and Western Europe. In 1991 he returned to Greece where he served until 2000 as Chairman and Managing Director of the Ionian and Popular Bank Group and General Manager of American Express Greece and of Citibank/Citicorp Greece. In 2000 he returned to Citigroup in London as Managing Director and Global Banks Industry Head running Citigroup’s global consulting and investment business with international banks. Since 2004 he has served as Chairman and CEO of National Bank of Greece and since 2005 Chairman of the Hellenic Bank Association.
