Former Avalanche defenseman Sylvain Lefebvre will make his coaching debut for Colorado's American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, in 2007-08. This marks his second season with the organization, as he spent the 2006-07 campaign as a development scout.
Lefebvre, 39, appeared in 945 NHL contests over 14 seasons with Montreal, Toronto, Quebec, Colorado and NY Rangers organizations, totaling 30 goals, 154 assists and 674 penalty minutes. He was part of the Avalanche defensive corps for four seasons from 1995-1999, including the club's Stanley Cup Championship campaign of 1995-96. He appeared in a total of 129 playoff games, amassing four goals and 14 assists.
"With his extensive experience as an NHL defenseman, Sylvain will be a great resource for our young defensemen as they grow into NHL-caliber players," said Giguere. "We are excited about what Joe and Sylvain will bring to our organization's development efforts. Both of them have the necessary background and experience to lead our AHL team." |
