Ms. Sahakian's practice focuses on insurance company insolvencies, insurance guaranty fund law, financial institutions and commercial litigation, including complex business disputes, contract disputes, class action securities litigation, insurance coverage disputes and appellate work. She heads up Dykema's Insurance Industry Practice Team. She is also head of the firm's Summer Associate Program.
Prior to her law career, Ms. Sahakian was a ballet dancer, studying at the Boston Conservatory of Music and with American Ballet Theatre in New York City. While at the University of Michigan, she was the winner of two Hopwood writing awards. In law school, she was a Case and Notes Editor of Georgetown University's The Tax Lawyer.

Has represented clients in hotly-contested probate matters, class action securities litigation, complex business disputes arising from the sale, acquisition and merger of entities and insurance coverage disputes.
Serves as general counsel to Michigan’s property and casualty state insurance guaranty fund – the Michigan Property & Casualty Guaranty Association.
Serves on a national level as the Michigan guaranty fund’s representative to the National Association of Insurance Guaranty Funds (NCIGF) and serves on various NCIGF coordinating and legal committees. Routinely works with liquidators, insurance department representatives and other members of the guaranty fund community throughout the country.
Has successfully argued cases in the Michigan Supreme Court, the Michigan Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. |
