Professional Experience
Susanne Meyer Brown practices in the firm’s Oakland office, which specializes in public and municipal law. Her practice focuses on transactional matters with an emphasis on real estate law, redevelopment, land use and public contracting for public agencies and private entities.
Before joining McDonough Holland & Allen, Susanne worked for Plageman & Lund LLP in Oakland where she did transactional work and civil litigation focusing on commercial real estate. She also negotiated and drafted commercial leases, easements, purchase and sales agreements, financing documents, and bank workouts; researched and analyzed general real estate, leasing, title insurance, and land use issues, including zoning and related codes, development agreements, and subdivision matters; and participated in complex real estate litigation, including eminent domain, commercial landlord-tenant, and escrow cases.
Susanne previously worked as a law clerk and then as an attorney with William W. Haskell & Associates in Hayward where she handled all phases of civil litigation including solo bench trials, court appearances and discovery strategy implementation and managed and reviewed work of paralegals and law clerks.
Susanne began her career as a leasing agent and marketing administrator with Goldsmith and Lathrop in Emeryville where she negotiated and drafted commercial real estate leases; reviewed, coordinated and inspected tenant improvement construction; organized lease administration and leasing activity for over 1.5 million square feet of office and industrial space; and prepared financial and marketing reports for presentation to building owners and lenders.
