Susan Pope has extensive experience in the economic, regulatory and public policy analysis of electricity market restructuring. For several years, Dr. Pope has been closely involved in the development of detailed plans for implementing a competitive wholesale generation market within the New York Power Pool. She has also contributed to developing market-based energy, capacity and transmission pricing systems in California, and the PJM Interconnection. In connection with these assignments, she has written or contributed to regulatory filings and has developed substantial knowledge of the operation of transmission systems and power pools. Dr. Pope has performed several detailed analyses of the impact of market and regulatory changes on the value of electric utility generation assets. These studies have required estimates of energy and capacity prices, and the development of consistent economic models of the operation of deregulated electricity markets. Dr. Pope also has experience in developing economic analyses and estimating damages for litigation involving price discrimination, breach of contract, and patent infringement. Before joining LECG, Dr. Pope was a consultant at Putnam, Hayes, and Barlett, Inc. She previously was an associate in research at Harvard Business School. She holds an A.B. in applied mathematics from Harvard/Radcliffe and a Ph.D. in business economics from Harvard University. |
