Professional Experience
Susan heads the leasing and CC&R teams within the Real Estate Practice Group. She assists developers and owners of retail properties with standard and specially-negotiated lease documents, often providing shopping center or mixed-use restriction and easement agreements. Susan also specializes in covenants, conditions and restrictions for master planned communities and common interest subdivisions including condominiums.
As McDonough Holland & Allen’s first woman attorney, Susan joined the firm in 1974 and has handled a wide variety of real estate transactions in her more than 30 years of practice.
Representative Matters
Prepared CC&Rs for the developers of residential planned developments with complicated conservation and open space easement requirements and associated documents.
Negotiated and drafted covenants, conditions, restrictions and easements for large retail and mixed-use developments involving the sale of some parcels.
Prepared standard form shops lease for landlords’ use in retail projects.
Represented seller of undeveloped property subject to a city-controlled development agreement.
Represented landlords in lease transactions with major big box and specialty restaurant tenants.
Prior Experience
Represented major homebuilder in more than 200 land and subdivision purchases.
Handled initial lease-up of several major shopping centers including leases and ground leases.
Created and updated DRE-approved master management documents for planned developments and condominiums.
