Ms. Sahgal conducts policy and regulatory research and analysis in a variety of areas such as Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law and corporate compliance. She assists healthcare organizations in reviewing and updating corporate policies, procedures and operations to be compliant and consistent with current regulatory standards. Ms. Sahgal also provides assistance to clients in the development of corporate compliance and risk assessment audit tools to ensure adherence to OIG guidelines and other federal regulations. Prior to joining SM, Ms. Sahgal worked as a Senior Health Care Analyst for Chamberlin Edmonds, a health care revenue recovery firm contracted with several Virginia hospitals. As an analyst for CE, Ms. Sahgal managed the daily revenue recovery process by evaluating the eligibility of all self-pay patients for State and Federal programs such as Medicaid, Medicare under disability, and SSI, to help them obtain better healthcare coverage, financial assistance and increase the hospital's Disproportionate Share Hospital Program (DSH) funding. In addition, Ms. Sahgal managed the daily billing and cost-reports for the company with regard to the financial recovery incurred by each hospital. Ms. Sahgal holds a Masters degree in Health Care Services Administration, with a concentration in Research and Policy, from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Medicine Biology and Vocal Music from Illinois Wesleyan University. |
