Sue F. Xia is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Silicon Valley office. She is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department.
Sue focuses her practice on patent litigation including complex hardware and software matters. In addition, she has patent prosecution experience on a variety of technologies including experience in the fields of mobile communication, language recognition, image manipulation and data encryption technology.

Matsushita (Panasonic) v. Samsung representing Panasonic in ongoing patent litigation in various cases involving complex semiconductor related patents.
Matsushita v. Mediatek representing Panasonic in numerous patent infringement actions involving MediaTek resulting in a favorable settlement for Panasonic.
Prior to attending law school, Sue worked as an engineer with Behavior Tech Computer Corporation where she provided technical support for the company’s product line.
Sue earned her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles. She is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
