Steven Sell is president and chief executive officer of MHN, a subsidiary of Health Net, Inc. MHN is a national provider of managed behavioral health plans, employee assistance programs (EAP) and workplace solutions. Mr. Sell is responsible for defining the strategies and policies under which MHN operates.
During his nine years at Health Net, Mr. Sell has held a variety of positions in strategic planning, marketing, operations management, and product development, including director of Strategic Planning, vice president and general manager of National Medicare Programs, and vice president of Business Development. He is widely recognized for championing many consumer-focused initiatives aimed at improving access to, and the delivery of, health care.
Prior to becoming president of MHN, Mr. Sell served as MHN’s chief strategy and business development officer and as MHN’s vice president of the Market Solutions Group. In that position, he was accountable for the financial, strategic and operational performance of the company’s 800+ commercial, health plan, and labor and trust clients, and he oversaw the sales, marketing, account management, clinical services and operations functions.
Before joining Health Net, Mr. Sell consulted to several health care and financial services clients on behalf of Booz Allen Hamilton. He also spent six years with The Prudential in a variety of strategic and operational roles.
With a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Swarthmore College, Mr. Sell went on to earn an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
