Steven Mendelson has over 25 years experience as a Senior Financial Executive. Prior to joining Focus Management Group, he spent 6 years in turnaround and crisis management positions assisting distressed companies, both inside and outside of bankruptcy court protection, by managing cash flow, creditors, preparation of financial models and forecasts and the due diligence process for raising capital. He has played a key role in successfully packaging companies for sale and is experienced in leading negotiations and managing relationships with ownership, lenders, legal firms, auditors, creditors, unions, tax authorities and potential new investors.
Steven has held numerous CFO and Controller positions where he provided expertise managing a wide variety of business, legal, regulatory and technical challenges. He is particularly skilled in enhancing overall performance and organizational value by implementing strong financial and operational systems and processes, teaching key financial aspects and improving communications and understanding throughout the organization. He started his career as Senior Auditor with KPMG.
Steven has worked in industries that include plastic injection molding, software/hardware development, healthcare, filtration and glass manufacturing, construction, printing and food distribution. His experience spans into both private and publicly held companies, subsidiaries of foreign corporations, and two start-ups.
Steven holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with honors in Accounting from Dowling College, Oakdale, New York and is a member of the Turnaround Management Association.
