Steve Lunn was appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of TRW Automotive in December 2002.
In this position, he focuses on operational and supply chain performance improvement, including quality, productivity, asset management, and implementation of best practices at more than 160 manufacturing facilities. Additionally, he is responsible for the global purchasing and quality functions.
Mr. Lunn is also responsible for overseeing global Product Development and Engineering activities and works in conjunction with the CEO to reach and satisfy the TRW Automotive worldwide customer base.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Lunn had served as executive vice president of automotive operations. He also previously served as senior vice president of operations for TRW Chassis Systems, responsible for operational strategy, performance, quality, best practices, purchasing, and related activities for more than 65 TRW braking and steering and suspension plants around the world.
Mr. Lunn came to TRW in 1999 when TRW purchased LucasVarity, where he was serving as deputy president and chief operating officer of LucasVarity Auto-motive, responsible for the company's global braking and electrical operations.
He had joined Lucas in 1995 as managing director of Lucas Braking Systems and in 1996, following the merger of Lucas and Varity, was named managing director of LucasVarity's Light Vehicle Braking Systems Division.
Before joining Lucas, Mr. Lunn was employed by the Rover Group, the UK's largest light vehicle manufacturer. He held a number of positions in the automaker's components business and joined the company's mainstream car operations in 1982 as director, foundries and fuel systems and held operations positions of increasing responsibility.
Prior to leaving Rover, Mr. Lunn served as managing director small and medium cars. Based at Longbridge, he held respon-sibility for all product development and manufacturing of the Mini, Rover 100, Rover 200, Rover 400, and MGF models.
Mr. Lunn holds National Certificates in Business Studies at Leeds College of Commerce, a post-graduate Diploma in Management Studies, and the Final Diploma of the Institute of Marketing.
