Steven is fascinated by how technology can maximize the acquisition of information, while minimizing the time, complication and space required. Mining the small and distinct spaces between technology, marketing, language and media, Steven helps clients exploit all media forms to tell their story and get results. His interest in the future of digital publishing first led Steven to work as a data analyst at Chicago financial powerhouse Morningstar. The first employee there to have an Internet connection, he saw exponential possibilities in the new medium and helped steer the company to a technology focus. Eager to engage more fully in online opportunities, he teamed up with a software designer to launch Gorilla Polymedia in 1994. This interactive engineering company worked with clients such as Bank of America, Kohler, Morgan Stanley and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, showing them back-end strategies to harness the power of the Web. Gorilla partnered with some of the most prestigious advertising and marketing firms in the industry to position clients solidly in the online environment. When Steven moved to Raleigh for the quality of life, he was surprised to discover an atmosphere of innovation that encompassed technology, media, the arts and business. When he joined Capstrat to head our Interactive team, he put his pioneering interactive experience to work for clients like the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy and the Robertson Scholars Program. Educated in one of the leading writing programs in the nation, Steven earned an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. His voracious curiosity was fueled by studies ranging from French and genetics to fine art and classic literature. |
