Steven W. Kasten is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Boston office. As a member of the Trial Department, he has broad experience in handling complex business disputes in a number of sectors.
Steven successfully represented the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) in litigation over its plans to construct a new runway at Logan International Airport. He has also represented Massport in several public bidding dispute cases, and in environmental litigation challenging its ongoing modernization of Logan Airport’s landside facilities. Steven currently represents a regional automobile distributor in the defense of an antitrust/RICO dealership class action challenging certain of the distributor’s business practices. He has also handled lawsuits and administrative proceedings on behalf of wine and spirit manufacturers concerning distributor terminations and product allocation issues. Steven has represented clients in numerous arbitration proceedings.
Steven is a member of the Firm’s Employee Benefit’s Litigation Group, and is representing financial institutions and ERISA plan trustees and administrators in a number of ERISA fiduciary class actions.
Steven has substantial experience in healthcare-related litigation. He successfully represented a New Hampshire community hospital in lawsuits brought by its medical staff president after the president’s removal from the hospital’s Board of Trustees. He has represented HMOs and hospitals in a variety of business disputes, and disputes concerning physician credentialing and disciplinary matters.
At the University of Michigan Law School, Steven was a member of the Michigan Law Review.
